JGAA Hosts the Spring Stableford at Talking Stick Golf Club

The JGAA Spring Stableford was held April 9th at Talking Stick Golf Club, on the South/ Piipaash Course. 109 and boys and girls competed, ages 8-18, in the one-day event. The Stableford scoring system, with the breakdown indicated below, was used with different point levels for the scores the players received on each hole.

In the Boys Championship Division, Ryan Sanchez of Gilbert took top honors with 59 points, followed by Ethan Adam of Chandler in 2nd with 55 points. Noah Nuez of Phoenix took top honors in the Boys 15-18 Division with 53 points, followed by Kobe Valociek of Peoria with 52 points in 2nd and Brad Haake in 3rd with 51 points. In the Boys 13-14 Division, Blake Hammarstrom of Scottsdale took 1st place with 51 points, Jack Dozer of Phoenix and Devon Sanders of Buckeye tied for 2nd with 50 points. In the Boys 11-12 Division Alex Herkamp of Cave Creek won with 28 points, while Brennan Korn of Phoenix won the Boys 10 and Under Division with 26 points.

In the Girls Championship Division, Jenny Bae of Chandler won with 58 points, Ashley Menne of Surprise took 2nd with 55 points and Sara Hameed of Gilbert took 3rd with 49 points. In the Girls 15-18 Division, Brook Beyer of Mesa took top honors with 49 points. Michelle Koo of Scottsdale finished 2nd with 46 points while Reyna Hernandez of Gilbert finished 3rd with 44 points. In the Girls 13-14 Division, Madeline Adam of Chandler won with 48 points. In the Girls 11-12 Division, Zoe Newell of Oro Valley (22 points) won in a playoff over Alexis Vakasiuola of San Tan Valley. In the Girls 10 and Under Division, Natalia Lamadrid won with 25 points.

STABLEFORD SCORING POINT BREAKDOWN

A modified stableford scoring system was used for the event

  • 3 Under Par “Double Eagle” or “Hole-in-one” = +9 points
  • 2 Under Par “Eagle” = +7 points
  • 1 Under Par “Birdie” = +5 points
  • Par = +3 points
  • 1 Over Par “Bogey” = +2 point.
  • 2 Over Par “Double Bogey” Any score 2 over par or higher = 1 point
  • Any score 3 over par or higher = 0 points
