Go behind the scenes at the Arizona State Junior Golf Championship.

A big thank you goes out to the crew of Breaking Par for featuring the JGAA during the Arizona State Junior Golf Championship held in mid-June at Talking Rock Golf Club in Prescott.

The episode takes you into the action at this coveted tournament as well as behind the scenes to hear what Arizona’s best junior golfers have to say about the game for life.

During the show, host Ryan Johnson also summed up the purpose of the JGAA through its mission statement: “The Junior Golf Association of Arizona’s mission statement is perfectly clear: educate, motivate and inspire Arizona’s youth through golf,” he said.

Like all sports, the earlier, the better.

“Many kids start when they are eight, nine, 10 years old and play through high school until they turn 18,” said Scott McNevin, executive director of the JGAA. “Almost all our members at least go onto college with probably 30-plus a year earning college golf scholarships. They learn the skills through the JGAA and the skills on the course that can take them through life and help them grow professionally and even personally. Really it’s all about having fun for these kids”
