AZ High School State Championships: Division I & Division II

The Arizona High School State Championships for Boys Division I & II and Girls Division I & II took place the week of November 2.

At the Girls Division I Championship at Aguila Golf Course November 2-3, Xavier took home the team title with a 45-stroke victory over Millennium High School. Xavier had team rounds of 285-295=580. They were led by medalist Alisa Snyder, 68-69= 137 and Emily Mahar (3rd, with rounds of 68-73=141). Kelly Su of Chaparral High School finished 2nd, with rounds of 68-73=139. Emily Smith shot 73-70 to finish 4th individually and lead Millennium High School to their 2nd place team finish.

In Tucson on November 2-3, at the Girls Division II Championship Sahuaro High School won the team championship by 43 strokes over Arcadia High School at the Dell Urich Golf Course at Randolph Golf Complex. Sahuaro, with team rounds of 323-321=644, were led by medalist Kathryn Ottman. Ottman had rounds of 72-72=144. Jessica Williams of Amphi High School, with rounds of 71-80, finished 2nd while Madison Voisard of Arcadia took 3rd with rounds of 75-78.

The Boys Division II title, held November 2-3 on the Randolph North Golf Course in Tucson, was won by Campo Verde High School. Campo Verde fired team rounds of 302-298= 600 to hold-off the 2nd place team Salpointe Catholic by 12 strokes. Aaron Ramos of Desert Edge High School took medalist honors, with rounds of 68-72=140, for a two stroke victory over Trevor Werbylo of Salpointe Catholica (67-74=140). Campo Verde was led by Brandon Meyer who finished 3rd with rounds of 73-72-145.

At the Boys Division I Championship, November 4-5 at Aguila Golf Course, Desert Mountain High School took the team title by one stroke over Brophy. Trueman Park of Hamilton High School was the medalist, winning a 4-way play-off over Michael Feagles of Brophy (72-67=139) and David Ricciardelli (70-69=139) and Matt McCarty (69-70) both of Desert Mountain. Park won on the 3rd play-off hole, chipping for eagle on the par 5, 10th hole at Aguila.
