Alyzzah Vakasiuola and Kohl Kuebler Take Home Top Honors at the Maricopa Junior Championship

Gilbert’s Kohl Kubler fired two subpar rounds (71-67) at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club to place first in the Boys Championship Division at 6-under-par 138 at the Maricopa Junior Championship, July 25-26. He finished five strokes clear of Scottsdale’s Jake Benanti (69-74—143) who ended up in second place at 1-under par. Jack Nethers of Paradise Valley came in third place at 5-over-par 149 (68-81).

Alyzzah Vakasiuola (71-73—144) of San Tan Valley won in the Girls Championship Division with an even-par performance. Lauren Garcia (75-74) of Gilbert and Michelle Nguyen (73-76) of Mesa finished tied for second place at 5-over-par 149.

Patrick Jackson of Phoenix won in the Boys 15-18 Division at 4-over-par 148 (79-69). Charlie Palmer of Phoenix won the Boys 13-14 Division at 5-over par (76-73—149). Oscar Uribe (37-39) and Ryan Sefrioui (38-38), both of Scottsdale, finished tied for first place in the Boys 11-12 Division at 4-over-par 76, before Uribe prevailed in a playoff. And Maverick Midthun of Chandler took the Boys 10 and Under Division with a score of 8-over par (41-39—80).

Joy Callinan of Makawao, Hawaii won in the Girls 15-18 Division at 10-over par (78-76—154), and Alexis Vakasiuola of San Tan Valley won the Girls 11-12 Division at 9-over par (42-39—81).
