Second Junior Masters Series tournament brings together a field of Arizona’s best junior golfers.

The BMO Invitational, the second Junior Masters Series tournament of the season, will kick off this weekend, Feb. 17-18, at Raven Golf Club Phoenix. This is the JGAA’s second Junior Masters Series tournament of the season, which is made up of five 36-hole, invitation-only, events where top-ranked Arizona junior golfers compete locally against their peers. Due to the strength of the field, players earn more national-level points. This helps Arizona’s best enter national junior golf tournaments as well as better prepares them for college golf and securing college golf scholarships.

“The BMO Invitational is a great opportunity for juniors to play against the best without traveling far from home.” said Scott McNevin, Executive Director of the JGAA. “It gives them the opportunity to play in more competitive tournaments at the best golf courses in the Valley.”

The field for the event is limited to 84 players (54 boys and 30 girls) in the JGAA’s Boys and Girls Championship Divisions (full field) who were invited to compete by virtue of their national ranking on Junior Golf Scoreboard – boys must be in the top 3,500 and girls in the top 1,500. Tee times for both rounds are scheduled begin at 11:45 a.m., and an awards ceremony will follow play on Sunday.

“Our goal is to provide a competitive place for aspiring players to play,” said George Getz, Chairman of the Board of the JGAA. “This tournament series will allow kids to earn national-level points and will serve as a launching pad into nationally chartered events.”
